Ventricular Septal Rupture Secondary to Inferior Myocardial Infarction

Abstract

Ventricular septal rupture (VSR) is a rare and life-threatening complication of acute myocardial infarction. The advanced age, female sex, stroke history, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure are known risk factors for this complication. Rupture may develop in anyanatomical location of ventricular septum. This complication is rarely seen. Thanks to acute reperfusion strategies applied after myocardial infarction. The aim of this case report is to reveal a ventricular septal rupture after myocardial infarction in a 66-year-old male patient.
