Otolaryngology (OOJ) is committed to the principle that research, particularly in a field with direct clinical relevance like hearing loss, head and neck disease, and airway disorders, should be freely and immediately accessible to the widest possible audience — surgeons, audiologists, researchers, and clinicians alike.

Immediate Open Access

All articles published in OOJ are made freely available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription, registration, or paywall restricting access, and no embargo period (see Publisher Policies).

No Access Barriers

Readers do not need to create an account, pay a fee, or obtain permission to read, download, or share published OOJ articles — important given practicing clinicians and audiologists may need rapid access to relevant case reports, diagnostic tools, and emerging technique descriptions.

Licensing

All open-access content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing readers to copy, distribute, and build upon the published work, provided appropriate credit is given (see Copyright & Licensing).

Alignment with International Open Access Standards

OOJ's open access model is consistent with the principles set out in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
