Open Access Policy
Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) is committed to the principle that research on athletic performance, injury prevention, and exercise physiology should be freely and immediately accessible to the widest possible audience — clinicians, coaches, athletic trainers, and researchers alike.
Immediate Open Access
All articles published in SEM are made freely available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription, registration, or paywall restricting access, and no embargo period (see Publisher Policies).
No Access Barriers
Readers do not need to create an account, pay a fee, or obtain permission to read, download, or share published SEM articles — important given that sports medicine practitioners and coaching staff often need rapid access to applied research findings.
Licensing
All open-access content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing readers to copy, distribute, and build upon the published work, provided appropriate credit is given (see Copyright & Licensing).
Alignment with International Open Access Standards
SEM's open access model is consistent with the principles set out in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
Article Processing
Details on the journal's Article Processing Charges and available fee waivers apply consistently across the Openventio journal network.
