Weight Loss with Bariatric Surgery and Quality of Life in the Absence of Comorbidities

Abstract

Objective. Determine the impact of loss of excess weight in patients undergoing bariatric surgery regarding quality of life with no comorbidities. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental epidemiological study carried out with 42 patients who underwent bariatric surgery with Da Vinci robotic and laparoscopic technique of gastric sleeve and bypass types. Results: The patients intervened with the robotic technique 59%, the laparoscopic technique 41%, the bypass 61% and sleeve type 39%. In addition, 45% of the intervened patients had type 2 diabetes mellitus, 19% had systemic arterial hypertension, 32% had depression, 23% had gastroesophageal reflux and dyslipidemia. At the end denotes remission of complications due to obesity of the 10 patients, loss of minimum excess of weight was 40.9%, a maximum was 110%, with an average of 65.69%; this is within the quality standards of bariatric surgery. As part of the outcomes, the quality of life was very good and good. The comparative analysis, HA is accepted.

 Conclusion: The percentage of loss of excess weight after surgery was accurate according to the parameters established in prior specialized theoretical frameworks; bariatric surgery improved the quality of life of patients with obesity.
