Advertising Policy
Surgical Research (SR) maintains a clear separation between editorial content and any advertising or promotional material, to protect the scientific integrity and independence of the journal, consistent with the journal's broader Editorial Process.
Editorial Independence
Advertising, where present, has no influence on editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or the content of published articles. Editors and reviewers make decisions based solely on the scientific merit of submitted manuscripts, entirely independent of any advertising relationship — including relationships with surgical device or instrumentation manufacturers (see Publication Ethics).
Advertising Standards
Any advertising displayed on the journal's website or associated platforms must be clearly distinguishable from editorial content and must not be misleading. Advertisements for products or services must comply with applicable laws and must not conflict with the ethical standards upheld by the journal, consistent with WAME's guidelines on advertising in medical journals.
No Endorsement
The presence of advertising on the journal's platform does not constitute an endorsement, by the journal, its editors, or its publisher, of the advertised product, service, or organization — including any surgical device or instrumentation system.
Prohibited Advertising
The journal does not accept advertising that is inconsistent with its scientific or ethical mission, including advertising that promotes unproven surgical devices or techniques, misrepresents clinical evidence, or otherwise conflicts with the responsible communication of health-related information.
Sponsored Content
Where sponsored content or supplements are published, they are clearly labeled as such and are subject to the same ethical and scientific standards as regular editorial content, consistent with the journal's Editorial Policies. Sponsorship of a special issue or supplement does not grant the sponsor any influence over editorial decisions or content selection.
