Abstract

When a young girl or adolescent presents to the Emergency Department with acute lower abdominal pain, it is not uncommon for a general surgeon to be consulted, as appendicitis is always top of the differential diagnosis. The management dilemma occurs when imaging reveals an adnexal mass in the setting of an acute abdomen.
