Conflict of Interest Policy

Anesthesiology (AOJ) requires full transparency regarding any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived to influence the objectivity or integrity of research, editorial decisions, or the peer review process, consistent with ICMJE's guidance on conflicts of interest.

Author Disclosure

Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest at the time of manuscript submission, including but not limited to: financial support or funding related to the research; consulting fees, honoraria, or employment relationships with anesthetic drug, medical device, or monitoring-equipment manufacturers with a financial interest in the subject matter; and personal or professional relationships that could be perceived as influencing the interpretation or presentation of the research. Where no conflicts exist, authors should explicitly state this in their manuscript, in accordance with the journal's Author Guidelines.

Reviewer Disclosure

Reviewers must disclose to the editorial office any conflicts of interest that could compromise their ability to provide an objective, unbiased review — including prior collaboration with the authors, direct competition in the same research area, or any financial relationship relevant to the manuscript's subject matter, consistent with the journal's Reviewer Guidelines. Reviewers with a significant conflict of interest should decline the review assignment.

Editorial Disclosure

Editors are required to recuse themselves from handling any manuscript in which they have a personal, professional, or financial conflict of interest, including submissions from their own current or recent collaborators, or manuscripts they have authored or co-authored (see Editorial Process).

Funding Disclosure

All sources of research funding, including grants, institutional support, and industry sponsorship, must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript's acknowledgments section, consistent with COPE's guidance on conflicts of interest.

Failure to Disclose

Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest is treated as a serious breach of publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection, correction, or retraction if discovered after publication, in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy and Research Misconduct & Sanctions.
