Join Our Reviewer Team

Anesthesiology (AOJ) is always seeking qualified, engaged clinicians and researchers to join its reviewer pool. Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the scientific quality and integrity of the journal, consistent with the standards described in the journal's Reviewer Guidelines, and serving as a reviewer is also a valuable opportunity for professional development and staying current with emerging research in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from clinicians, researchers, and academics with:

  • A relevant doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) or substantial professional expertise in anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, critical care, or a related field
  • A track record of published research or clinical practice, demonstrating familiarity with scientific methodology and academic writing standards
  • Willingness to provide timely, constructive, and confidential feedback on submitted manuscripts, consistent with the journal's Peer Review Policy

What Reviewing Involves

Reviewers are asked to evaluate assigned manuscripts against the journal's peer review criteria, typically completing a structured Reviewer Evaluation Form within an agreed timeframe. Reviewers are not obligated to accept every review invitation and may decline assignments outside their area of expertise or when their schedule does not permit a timely review.

How to Apply

Interested clinicians and researchers should submit an expression of interest to the editorial office, including:

  • A current CV or academic biography
  • A brief statement of relevant subject-matter expertise within anesthesiology
  • Contact information, including institutional affiliation

Review Process for Applications

Applications are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor to confirm relevant qualifications and subject-matter fit before an applicant is added to the journal's active reviewer pool, consistent with the journal's Editorial Process.

Recognition

Reviewers who provide consistent, high-quality contributions to the journal may be considered for invitation to join the Editorial Board, and the journal recognizes the contributions of its reviewers through periodic acknowledgment of their service.
