Repository & Self-Archiving Policy

Anesthesiology (AOJ) supports authors' rights to deposit and share their published work in institutional and subject-based repositories, consistent with the journal's open-access mission.

Author Rights to Self-Archive

Because all AOJ articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), authors retain the right to deposit the final published version of their article — not only the accepted manuscript — in any institutional repository, subject repository, personal website, or academic networking platform, at any time, without an embargo period, consistent with the journal's Copyright & Licensing policy.

Recommended Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit their published work in relevant repositories such as their home institution's repository, PubMed Central, Europe PMC, or discipline-specific repositories relevant to anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.

Attribution Requirement

When self-archiving or depositing published work, authors must include a full citation to the original publication, including the article's Crossref-registered DOI, and should link back to the version of record on the journal's website wherever possible, consistent with the journal's Citation Policy.

Version Control

Because the CC BY 4.0 license applies to the final published version, authors are encouraged to archive the final published PDF rather than an earlier draft or accepted manuscript version, to ensure readers accessing the archived copy see the complete, peer-reviewed, and formally published record.

Third-Party Repositories and Indexing Services

Where third-party indexing or discovery services incorporate AOJ content into their own repositories, this is addressed separately in the journal's Indexing and Abstracting and does not affect the author's own self-archiving rights described here.
