Archiving Policy
Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine (CSMM) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content, ensuring that articles remain available to readers and researchers even in the event the journal ceases publication or becomes otherwise unavailable from its original source.
Preservation Service
CSMM's content is digitally preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free, not-for-profit dark archive developed for journals using Open Journal Systems. PKP PN preserves content using the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) distributed preservation model across a global network of preservation nodes.
How This Protects Readers and Authors
PKP PN operates as a "dark archive" — preserved content is held securely and is not publicly accessible under normal circumstances, but becomes available in the event of a "trigger event," such as the journal ceasing publication or content becoming otherwise unavailable from CSMM's own website. This ensures that:
- Published articles remain part of the permanent scholarly record, regardless of the journal's future operational status
- Citations to CSMM articles remain valid and traceable over the long term
- Readers and institutions can rely on continued access to CSMM's published research
Verification
CSMM's preservation status can be independently verified via its ISSN record, which confirms active archival status with the Public Knowledge Project PLN.
