Data Sharing Policy

Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine (CSMM) is committed to promoting scientific transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration through responsible data sharing.

Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to make research data underlying their published findings openly available, in accordance with ethical considerations, legal requirements, and institutional or patient privacy protections.

Data Types

This policy applies to all relevant data associated with published research, including raw data, processed data, supplementary data, code, and metadata — such as genomic and proteomic datasets, imaging data, clinical data, and statistical outputs.

Data Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in established, discipline-appropriate repositories with persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs), such as:

  • GEO (Gene Expression Omnibus) or SRA (Sequence Read Archive) for genomic/transcriptomic data
  • PRIDE for proteomics data
  • Dryad, Figshare, or an institutional repository for general research data

Data Availability Statement

All manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement specifying where and how the underlying data can be accessed, e.g., "The data supporting this study are available at [repository link] under accession number/DOI: [identifier]." Where data cannot be shared, the statement must explain why (e.g., patient privacy, ethical or legal restriction).

Patient Data and Privacy

Where research data includes patient-derived material or clinical information, authors must ensure that shared data is appropriately anonymized or de-identified to protect participant privacy, consistent with the journal's Ethical Approvals and Informed Consent policy.

Access During Peer Review

Reviewers and editors may request access to underlying data to verify results, assess reproducibility, or evaluate research integrity. Authors must provide such access promptly and in a usable format.

Non-Compliance

Manuscripts that do not include a Data Availability Statement will be returned to the authors prior to peer review.
