English Language Editing
Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine (CSMM) welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide, including those for whom English is not a first language. To maintain clarity and readability across all published content, manuscripts may require English language editing prior to publication.
When Language Editing Is Required
During initial editorial screening and peer review, editors and reviewers assess whether a manuscript's English is of sufficient quality for publication. Where language issues are identified — such as unclear phrasing, grammatical errors, or awkward sentence construction that could affect a reader's understanding of the science — the manuscript may be returned to the authors with a request for language editing before it can proceed further in the review or production process.
Language Editing Fee
Where language editing is required, an additional fee of $179 USD applies, regardless of article type, alongside the standard Article Processing Charge. This fee covers professional editing for grammar, clarity, and readability; it does not alter the scientific content, data, or conclusions of the manuscript, which remain entirely the responsibility of the authors.
What Language Editing Does Not Cover
Language editing addresses linguistic clarity only. It is not a substitute for:
- Peer review of scientific content, methodology, or conclusions
- Verification of data accuracy or statistical analysis
- Any guarantee of manuscript acceptance
A professionally edited manuscript still undergoes the journal's full double-blind peer review process and may be revised, rejected, or accepted based on its scientific merit, independent of its language quality.
Author Options
Authors are welcome to have their manuscript professionally edited by a service of their own choosing before submission, which may reduce or eliminate the need for the journal's language editing fee, provided the resulting manuscript meets the required standard at initial screening.
Independence from Editorial Decisions
The requirement for language editing, and any associated fee, has no bearing on the scientific evaluation of a manuscript and does not influence peer review outcomes or editorial decisions regarding acceptance or rejection.
